Day 1: From Detroit to Quito

My room at Hotel Walther

My trip down here went as smoothly as it could. Flying with Mallory was definitly good because at least then I knew one other person. The flight was pretty much uneventful, though I did get to see the best sunset of my life over the Gulf of Mexico, and flying into Quito is neat because you pretty much drop into a valley surrounded by mountains. My day was filled with excitment and apprehension, as well as tears and anxiety. Saying goodbye to my Mom and sisters was probably the hardest part. I was feeling pretty alone because - oh wait - I was alone once I got in my taxi to my hotel last night. Much to my surprise (and joy) my hotel has wirless internet. That, along with the chocolate my Dad bought me before leaving was my savior because I could talk to someone I knew. (I talked to Diane and Annie)

Today's agenda is currently up in the air as I have no direct form of contacting anyone I know down here. Who knows what I will end up doing, other than exploring my hotel a bit more (?)

this is how you pack your life for 4 months into 2 suitcases
